So long brain

Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most.  A quote by Mark Twain that I chuckled at the first time I heard it. Of course it only applied to those people, you  know who I am talking about (little old ladies with folding shopping carts ring a bell). It certainly was not me. I have documentation, real medical documentation, I love to waive in people's faces. Not only does it say am I sane (there is no need to interview my friends on this subject) but I had a superb memory. The highest the University of Washington had ever tested. Okay to be fair, it was a lab dealing with memory loss, but hey I had the best memory to date. WOO HOO me. But  alas life caught up with me, throw in an electrocution, a concussion (which you have to admit I did a mighty fine job doing. It takes talent to be able to knock oneself out. Still looking for a place on my resume to add that little ditty) and a chronic disease and you can see how my brain decided to leave for a warmer parts taking my memory with it. Of course it would be nice on days if either one of the two would at least send a post card. I probably brought  everything on myself. I got smug. I was gleefully working on lessons plans for next week on Thursday... a full 3 days before I normally do it. Okay who am I kidding, I normally do  lesson plans Monday morning for that week. I spent the whole time praying that the kids will sleep in, so I can be ready when they wake up. I have been wanting to start with the older boys on C.S. Lewis' The Great Divorce. I have patiently waited for it to come in at the library. It has been months of waiting, no book. I logged into my account and the problem became apparent. Did you know the library requires you actually to request the book you want on hold before they will give it to you? I thought we had come along way with telepathy, apparently not.
